Staff Accountant

Basic Overview of the Position

Animix is searching for a Staff Accountant that will help support the accounting department. This opportunity will help define and advance the accounting department in times of company growth.  The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of the general ledger and be able to bring industry experience to our team. They will be heavily involved in the day-to-day operations as well as supporting the VP of Finance regarding various business processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Main responsibilities:

• Process Accounts Payable invoices, identify and resolve supplier issues and initiate supplier payments
• Manage Accounts Receivable process including cash application and Credit/Collections
• Prepare month-end and year-end journal entries to close the books

• Prepare various balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly and annual basis
• Identify and understand inaccuracies while finding the root cause and communicating corrective action
• Understand variance to budget and be able to accurately explain
• Assist with annual financial audit
• Analyze changes in raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services to determine effects on costs
• Work with supply chain on discrepancies in inventory reserves, physical inventories, and cycle count reconciliation
• Analyze and monitor inventory for risk
• Assist with forecasting and budgeting
• Collaborate across functions including operations, supply chain, logistics and sales to recommend solutions, identify opportunities for improvement and implement projects to increase productivity
• Assist and develop implementation of accounting procedures and ERP processes
• Monitor internal controls are in place and maintained to mitigate risk
• Assist with potential acquisitions
• Monthly reconciliation of bank account(s)
• Prepare annual sales tax, personal property tax, and 1099’s
• Special projects and other duties as assigned

Organizational Interfaces

Staff Accountant reports directly to the VP of Finance

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of Accounting Experience
• Experience working in manufacturing environment a plus

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

• Proficient in MS Excel; creation and use of pivot tables is a plus
• Comfortable with ERP systems, experience with Great Plains and NetSuite is a plus

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• General office environment
• Sitting and/or standing for long periods
• Working with computers and viewing monitors for extended periods
• Able to lift boxes, supplies, files, and other office related materials to approximately 35#
• Must be comfortable and feel safe in all Animix locations which may include production facilities, warehouses, offices, etc.
